Does anybody know the tightening torque for the inlet manifold and the plenum chamber bolts. Also is it wise to use some gasket sealer on the plenum chamber halfs. Cheers. Steve.
I dont know about the inlet manifold torque figures, but i would guess they are fairly critical,if you dont want to be going back there too often!! I have however, had my plenum off more times than i care to mention now.I have never used a torque figure, and have just done them up hand tight, but a torque figure is obviously better if one exists-bear in mind you dont want to be stripping threads in the aluminium, and you wont go far wrong.I've never had any problem with plenum sealing, and i always use a very thin smear of Wurth RTV on the plenum mating surface only. After applying the thin smear,i run my finger around the inside edge of this freshly applied RTV to remove the inside edge, leaving a clean surface. This ensures that when the the plenum and trumpet base are fastened together, excess RTV doesnt spill into the plenum chamber.Hope this helps,Mike

Nominally 30 lb-ft, but I've never bothered to measure it either. It's just 'fairly tight' on a small bar, bearing in mind that they're into soft metal. Make sure you tighten them progressively in the correct order to ensure the manifold pulls down flat. A smear of Hylomar Blue around the water ports on the the valley gasket ensures that seals well.
