I know the gauges aren't the most accurate in the world, but after I filled up this weekend, the gauge only registered 3/4 instead of full (and 'yes' it really was full!). It's never played up before.
Is it likely I have a sensor fault or what?
And is such a fault likely to be covered by a warrenty?
Cheers

Warranty - how old is it? how long have you had it? Was it froma dealer?
I had the opposite problem. Mine showed 1/8 tank when it was empty (I found out the hard way).
It's easy to pull out the sender, rotate it through its arc and watch the needle move.
I ended up adjusting the arm so it was shorter, and bending the end stop slightly. Needs a bit of experimentation to get it spot on.
Yours, though, may be something else as it's suddenly stopped working properly. Loose connector, faulty gauge, dodgy wire etc.
Best bet is to check connectors first. If all OK, try whipping out the sender to see what the guage does as you move the sender.
Good luck.
