Hope Rob Barff doesn't mind me putting these up, but here is the Le Mans challenger from TVR.

Lets hope Rob is going to drive at Le Mans, as a seasoned TVR man he deserves a shot at the greatest race on Earth. The colours are awesome, same as the Morgan last year....

Just curious, if the T440R was designed with high speed in mind, why is there a fing big wing on the back of this one?

Downforce (sorry if this is stating the obvious).

Don't forget that the 355 was also designed with high speed in mind but all the 355 challenge cars also have wings on the back.

Also I believe that GT rules outlaw the use of underbody venturis so wings are necessary to get the required downforce. They do however allow diffusers (which are effectively venturis that start from the rear axle line of the car) but these alone are not enough. Another reason is that it is easy to alter the downforce provided by wings etc etc.....

Remember the Mclaren Le Mans cars after their first competitive season increased in length and were fitted with big wings. Same thing again.

Flasher, do you have higher res pictures available for download somewhere? Would make a nice desktop and be a nice reminder of the forthcoming trip to Le Mans...

email me and I'll send them to you.

Don't want to upset the guy who took them by putting any more on here, although I'm sure he wouldn't mind us admiring his superb pictures...

Can't wait for Le Mans now....

What differences are there in the engine in the LeMans car and the engine in a Tuscan S?

I assume it's de-catted and more than 4 litre, but what else would they do to it?

I'm interested to know really from the engine reliability side of things. I stand to be corrected but I reckon the speed 6 is a fair bit more reliable now than it used to be (my local dealer told me the top end of the engine in my October '02 Tuscan S is much updated from the early cars which had problems????). But this race car has got to last 24 hours under full hammer.
