external drive question
Discussion
for the past 18 months I've been backing up my files onto an external drive. today a plugged in a card reader, since then the drive letters have changed. this causes a problem as all files are backed up to (G
drive. It is now (I
drive, and the back up using briefcases is still looking for (G
.
How do I get the original paths back, a system restore made no difference
cheers

First, plug both drives in.
Now right click My Computer, select manage from the context menu. Choose Disk Management from the left hand menu. In the right pane, right click the memeory stick drive, and select Change Drive Letter and paths from the context menu. Pick a letter away from G:
Now do the same with the external drive, but select G: this time. This ought to stop Windows picking letters at random, silly thing.
