Wedge Less but Long live the Angles & Bulges

Well nearly 2 years after letting my much loved SEAC go and after selling my SEAC Race Project this year, I still yearn for another Wedge. Though as mentioned in these pages I've been after a Metro for a while. WHAT you cry? Well it does have some bulges, angles and a bit of go. Do I still qualify as an honorary Wedge Head!

Was going to buy a Clubman car (Standard one of the 200 homologation units) but the general news was get one thats done some work and with known history as they should be run.
It's a 2.8 with around 300bhp only but with big diffs, Xtrac dog box, PAS, coolers and fans everywhere, Kevlar....Blah... Only dissapointment is that the wonderful engine howl is drown out by the wail from the straight cut gears in the box.

Is it normal to have completely different types of wheel on the front and the back?

He ran various types but the same width, radius and offset so where fine.
I've got all the same 17" x 8" Compomotives (As per the Fronts) to run Slick, Inter and Wets.

The wheels did not fit by the way but the engineers at work have offered to make up some spacers.

Sounds like a fun project to do. Is there any original Metro in it ? I thought I heard somewhere the only common piece was the handbrake lever ?

Sorry to hear the wheels didn't fit. They sat fine on the 350 when in the garage. I hope you enjoy the hooning around in yours when sorted. Perhaps I'll join a TVR track day or Sprint as I'm still a Wedge head just having a break to scratch a long term itch!
The 6R4 Used the Metro windscreen and shell of the doors and parts of the bulkhead, inner and outer wings and front locking panel. Only directly carry over bits where screen, front and rear lights. Engine sounds glorious on cam but when inside the only noise is the straight cut box.

One of my all time favourite cars or you going to use it competitively? Darlington & District motor club were trying to organise a sprint earlier this year for 6r4's but they had to postpone it, hopefully get it up and running next year. I've only seen that car competitng once (I think, although there are about 400 6r4 photos on the site) here are some of the other photos on my site







They were all taken on The Phoenix Stages Rally 2005 which is run at Fulbeck Airfield, in Lincolnshire, which believe it or not is classed as a tarmac event

So - does it have the same inside door handles as the wedge???

Took it out yesterday to try and convince my long time co-driver to come out of retirement. I think it did the trick. I was utterly staggered by the noise of the straight cut gearbox and the horendous bang when the dog gears engage - told thats normal - I can feel a £500 intercom may be needed. Plan is to do a couple of smooth tarmac rallies, sprints, MGOC & hopefully TVR (If allowed as they are my real passion) track days and as Jimmy McRae used the car to win the Manx in '97 I may be allowed to do the odd UK event with the Slowly Sideways (Broup 4 & Group B) car club. If the Rev and the boys allow me then I'd like to come along to BBWF next year.
