Handbrake Cable

Should it be twisted like this?

I tried un-twisting it, but it keeps twisting back up.
The handbrake works ok, so its not really a problem.

I might try twisting mine then ......... cos mine don't work ok!!

Have you tried twisting it and then locking the curved bit on the left of the picture, it looks like it has a nut on the front and the back so it can be locked. Have not done this job myself but was just a thought.

yes done that.
I've fully loosened the bolts tried un twisting it and tightening the bolts back up, but it just twists back up again taking the cable to the left of the bolts with it.

Mine doesnt work either, cleaned the hubs up and pads still no good. I know it doent look good but if its not broken dont fix it.

The cable must have been twisted when fitted! It would involve taking the cable off where it attaches to the other drum un twisting then re fit, liker said earlier dont bother if its working cos you dont wanna unfix it !

they might eventually chaeff each other and snap but it would take years

My handbrake has never really been a big problem, (Levens sorted it out for me when I first got the car) although I did used to have to pull it up high.
So whilst doing my clutch I took some of the slack out of the cable from here. It does work better now too which is a bonus.
I was Just curious about the twisted wires.

Mayby the twist is the secret to gettin it to work
