Poah, just a thought...
As photographers, we notice and tut:
oversharpening
too much contrast
Overly vibrant and unrealistic colours, etc etc etc
But most designers/stock buyers are drawn towards buying pics for these very reasons, rather than being put off.
ie just a little too much of everything really is best when it comes to making sales. A $1 photo is hardly the purchasing decision of a lifetime, therefore you want your pics to stand out rather than survive the test of academic scrutiny. Just a thought
Somethin else I've noticed - dont crop to please the eye/composition. Crop to get rid of as many inches of empty space as possible. It makes the difference between thumbnails standing out, vs not, and ultimately impacts upon sales.

I didnt bother to PS out the flame, which the flash obliterated. Praps I should have as it looks crap...?
When I saw the photo I thought the whole point was that you can hardly see the flame and that it appears to be 'hovering' over the lighter. Looks good IMO, very artistic.

Why not PS it to make it look more vibrant?
I really struggled to shoot white on white yesterday shooting kitchen utensils (whilst enduring the snigger of my gf)... on the one hand trying to blow out the background whilst not blowing the white object in the foreground.
Took a good few tries to achieve this simple shot:

Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

trying to get my stock portfolio from 230 shots to 300++ by Tuesday.
