Hi,

My new Griff is a 500HC, and I have been trying to do some research between the 'normal' and the HC versions. What exactly are the differences and which one is best?

I am told that the HC version has upto 20 more BHP than standard is this true? or TVR 'guess the figure' syndrome?

Thanks
Ian

All 500 Griffs were HC spec... The 20 bhp change (340 to 320) was ahem an ECU mod to make the city driving easier but in reality no power difference what so ever.

I`d gladly suffer a 20hp loss for better town driving
, can the mod be carried out on older versions?

Mines a 96 model, which version of the HC would that be then?

Some of the Griffs advertised, are shown as the 'Full 340bhp HC model' mmmmm not quite true then..

Unless you wallet runs deep, 270/280BHP is about the norm.

They lied and quoted the little known Blackpool Horse Power.

mines a 96 model, had it on Austec`s rolling road a couple of weeks ago, and was putting out 272 at the back wheels, at the crank though, which is where the 340 would have been measured, it must be somewhere around the 300 to 310 mark?

no mods whatsoever, Tim at Austec fitted new lambda sensor, fiddled with the throttle pot, and that was it, but recommended a new bosche coil which is now fitted, he did say that every now an then a really good standard one comes along and puts down some good power!

Pasco, I think the new steering wheel helpedhehe

I think their new RR reads even higher than the old one, Mine went on both and gained 12 Bhp

Dear olemisery, I think that you missed the relevance of the word ahem (or cough etc.)
Steve was being polite and giving the official reasoning behind stating a lower bhp figure...

May be best to re-read Steve's post.
