Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a 996 which has PCM. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the telephone handset (without ruining the dash!)

Thanks

In situations like this I usually give a call to an OPC or your friendly Indi dealer... they will tell you

The handset itself is detachable from the main unit - it uses a standard phone conenctor like you often get on your home phone.

However, removeing the cradle will be a problem - it'll leave holes where it's mounted, and the trim piece it's attached to is actually wider than the one on the otehr side of the centre console, so will look wong anyway! Best solution is to get a replacement trim piece to fir to the LHS of the centre console. Not sure how easy this would be but a porsche breakers might be able to help.

I'd also be interested to know how easy it would be to do this, as I'm tired of my mates lifting the receiver the minute they get in my car and shouting 'Buy pork bellies, sell Orange juice, SELL SELL SELL' punch
