longest ever service?
Discussion
I booked my Tamora in for it's first annual service over 5 weeks ago. I was travelling for three weeks after and have been waiting ever since. From what I've been told the warranty repairs need to be approved by TVR prior to the garage doing the work. So I'm waiting and waiting... how long was your first service?

Are you saying they have had your car for 5 weeks to do a first service on a car that has nothing major wrong with it?
First annual service (not the 1000 mile service) and as far as I'm aware there is nothing major wrong with it (at least there wasn't when I dropped it off). I've been told that no warranty repairs/work can happen without the ok from the factory and that the car may need to go back to the factory to have this work carried out. Problem is the factory was closed for their annual two week summer break then, to my suprise, shut down until at least the end of September. So far the garage hasn't been able to get anyone to approve the warranty work let alone specify if it needs to go back to the factory or not.
If this is the same dealer that supplied the car to you(as in took your money) I cannot believe they could not have tried a bit harder to get this resolved in less than 5 weeks.
As a dealer they will have some warranty discretion for sensible work, obviously if it is a big job or they have no parts then different rules apply.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Last month I called to booked my car for it's 6,000 mile service on a friday, they took the next wednesday and I got it back friday. One week from phone call to having service completed.
Had service, pedal box moved, radar detector hard wired and several small warranty defects fixed (faulty reversing light, two broken exhaust hangers, loose dorr striker plate).
Cost £616 at Harrogate Horsless Carriages.
I think that was a good deal.

Thats not correct, my Tamora has just been back to Racing Green specifically for warranty weork and there was no "factory approval required" delay.

It depends on what work is needed. Minor bits are probably OK, the dealer may even take on the cost, but major work or perhaps paintwork/bodywork is another issue altogether. Lundi - we need more data.

Erm... yes it is correct. The garage will not carry out any of the warranty work until the factory approves it. That is what they have told me and I have no reason to not believe them.
I've been in similar situations with my previous TVRs and the leason I learned is to have everything sorted at the same time. I could have my car back with none of the warranty work done but then it will be nigh on impossible to get the warranty items sorted. That's my personal experience which I'm sure may not be the same as others experience.

The warranty repairs do involve paint/body-work. The garage says they can fix all the faults but need factory approval first (ok, maybe a better word is authorisation?). I doubt the dealer will take on the cost because the dealer I originally purchased from ceased trading as a TVR dealer so I've been in limbo for the past 12 months of ownership. I've left this in the hands of the garage for long enough so I will get in touch with my contacts at the factory to see if I can get this resolved any quicker.

That will be Mummy - she is catching up on the backlog after the 2 week shutdown.

I was told the factory was closed until the end of September for relocation? The TVR website announcements says it won't be up and running again until October. Does this mean nothing will happen with my car until then?
The factory closing AFAIK is the production side.
Office section is running as normal, unless they are winding down as well prior to the move.
I will ask her tomorrow if she is still authorising the warranty. bear in mind, mum is the only one doing the warranty so it can take her a while but she is normally pretty good.
