Returning home in the Seven, after an enjoyable day in Arundel with the girlfriend. Over take a Police car on a dual carriage way that is doing about 60mph and pull in a couple of car ahead of him. He pulls out and pulls in behind me. I pull out to over take another car, and he follows. This continues for several mile. Then the blue lights come on. I start looking for somewhere safe to pull over. He floors it past me, then turns the blue lights off and drops his speed quickly to 40mph, nearly causing a mass pile uprolleyes. Myself and some other cars over take him, and then he goes back to his original game with me, until I lose him at a roundabout.

Is he suffering small dick syndrome because he only had a panda car, or is he mentally deficient?

Ah, edited as forgot the most important part of the tale. My speed never exceeded 70 mphangel.

If you got the license plate, report him for "racing" on a public highway. Failing that, just report what happened to your local plod shop as they may well know who was doing the driving in that area at that time.

I would certainly report that he overtook then quickly slowed down (if you see what I mean)

He may have had to respond to a call, then had the call cancelled... but I doubt it!

I'm often thought that fitting a tachograph to Police vehicles to record speed and siren/beacon activation would cut out this kind of nonesense. At the moment it's your word against theirs (and we know how that normally works out!).

In my opinion the Police hold a position of trust. There should be better ways of ensuring that that trust isn't abused.

What on earth were you out driving a Seven on dual carriageways for? Had they closed all the B-roads? He was probably looking to pull you for "driving boringly in a nice car".

Panda car and not Traffic?

Hmmm .... maybe he thought that the speed limit on an NSL DC is 60? Amazing how many people do.

Put it down to experience. You may win today's battle and he gets a "telling off", but ying and yang balance means next time he will be out to get you...

probably making a point that he actually is there

happened to me once five car convoy driving over the new forest pass a BTP van; next thing van lights a blaze so we all pull in, slow down, van passes us then pulls in front, slows down, to less than speed limit so we all just past it again and carry on, - only jurisdiction is on the platform not the road not the road

its little things like that that niggle and slowly erode your respect/confidence
