hi
After some help obtaining some spare belts. I am running an American speed engine in a gtr with alternator on the passenger side & air con compressor on the driver’s side (uk car) if anyone has part numbers etc I would be grateful.

Thanks
Simon

Pretty much every install will be different with position and mounting type, pulley sizes etc.
Find an old belt and cut it so you have a long strip. Wrap the cut belt around the pulleys so the ends are on the longest straight run. The ends will either overlap or stop short of each other but will still allow you to measure how long or short your cut belt is to what you require. Do this twice, once with the max adjustment and again with minimum adjustment. With these lengths just go into Halfords and work your way along the rack until you find the nearest size that will do the job.

steve is right, but I want to add, that a string or wire also does the job..

Sorry no.
The vee belt sits in the vee of the pully but not right down into the bottom of the vee so if you use string the belt will be too short.

you´re right...I don´t have a vee belt, but a 6 groove belt, that´s why it worked...thought of all Chevy Engines to be provided with groove belts..´.

Hi had a similar issue on the Way to Le mans. I threw the Alternator belt and the air con belt. I didi have a spare but there was no markings on the belt. I phoned Ultima and they gave me the belt width and length. I managed to find some Gates belts that were similar. I have since purchased addditonal relacements from Ultima. I have the belt sizes at home (I am at work at the moment) and can post these later this evening if this helps. They are "V" belts.

Pardon the hijack but SCUFF, where the devil have you been of late? A pal of mine has just got back from a track day at Spa and guess what he saw when he was there? 2 X Ultimas, one yours I believe. Who was the other? What was it like? Tell us more?

Back on topic, I have poly vee on the GTW, any one else using them? You often hear of Ultimas throwing belts and this is looking like a definite reliable up grade, something to be getting on with over the winter perhaps?

Lutz, to help identify the belt you have: -^^^^^^- = Poly V or v = conventional type belt.

Sorry to dissapoint but have not been to Spa. Have not really ben around much of late. Been on Hols (not in the GTR grumpy) Infact have not been out in it much at all of late. Am still here. Hoping to get more involved for the latter half of the summer. Will have to see. See that you are going for SVA. Good luck. Like the dash very much.

p.S. I think that the Alternator Belt was 9.5 x 1057 and the air con 11 x 950. will confirm tonight.

If you look on the bookatrack.com website, the two Ultimas are shown on their attendee list. You can work it out from there.

I'm there next week beer

Well, well, well. White making a comeback... Guess you'd have to paint it white!!!!
As for the belt sizes I was slightly out from memory size is actually
Alternator 9.5 x 1087
Air Con 12.5 x 950

Hope this helps. Will see what we can do about getting out and about. Have some things to sort then will see about a track day. Maybe late Oct
