Credit Cards Out!!!

Ok, thats it, I have just started her up after 3 weeks of missing her.
I feel so guilty, and want to treat her to some major bits. Credit cards got 2 K left and I have enough beer in the fridge to stop me noticing!!!
Stainless mainfolds, yup keep sayin' it but now I'm gonna do it. Who should I get em from? And what do I need to check?
Full front brake upgrade, cos I am plain and simple Pi@@ed off with brake fade ( especially after BBWF and not being able to keep up with wedg1e cos I couldn't stop)!!! I want the better discs calipers pads and hoses???
Out of curiousity (Iam all out of free time!!) any idea how much it might cost to have the manifolds fitted???
Oh and I need a new 350i sticker for the boot??

Don't know how far you want to go with the brakes but I just done mine Granny vented discs princess 4pot calipers with spacers fast road pads and braided hoses all round @ a cost of £200 . Made a 150 % improvement in stopping power and zero fade
richo_i please let me know more. Take it you did them yourself? 200 is a great price to pay, I am only miffed that I have 2 new calipers cos when I bought the car the brakes were binding so had to do them to get the car home!!!

Sorry, couldn't help it. I am however interested as well in the front option for a 400. What happened to that other firm, name escapes me, that were doing the 350 option on ebay?

I was hoping you'd reply. I'd love to get brakes like urs. Will I have to do the engineering bit to get the mastercylinder to fit?
I know it is only a 350i but some one has to keep them on the road...

I'm sure you could convince me to cut a piece of plate.

then a set of 10mm spacers from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/princess-calipe
then a set of braided hoses which I also got off ebay but can't see any listed at the mo . I got lucky as I was able to get a set of granada vented disc's from a member of this forum for £15 and the calipers I brought had good fast road pads with them. Fitting it all was straight forward apart from the rear hose where access was tight and you need to cut a bit of the front dust sheilds for it all to fit but if I can do it anyone can although I did have use of a mates lift.

The price on the ebay refurbished AP calipers of £200 looks good, when I was looking last year auctions for used calipers always topped £100 and by the time you pay postage and buying new seals and pistons this could come to more than £200.
We ended up going for a Hi-Spec kit, 4 pot calipers, 280mm grooved vented front disks, grooved rear disks, braided brake lines and ebc green stuff pads. Came to £750, they were purchased from TVRCarparts rather than HiSpec directly because it was cheaper, though we actually picked them up from HiSpec in Dartford. They work very well with no sign of fade on the TVRCC track days at Snetterton and Brands this year. The only issue is that HiSpec are not good on delivery times and we only got the kit in time for Snetterton because Mike (guy I co-own the car with) works 5 minutes from HiSpec and kept dropping in at lunchtimes to hassle them.
I think there are other threads about HiSpec on this and other sites which pretty much slag them off, apart from getting hold of the kit in the first place they have been fine for us.

unless you're going to do a lot of track stuff I'd go for the Princess upgrade that you mention. It was the first upgrade I did to the 450 and with the spacers, bigger discs, braided hoses and Tarox pads, was probably the nicest to drive with and performed excellently even on track.
The Hi-Spec which are on the car at the moment also work well but the problems mentioned in other threads would put me off using them again. I also don't like EBC pads. Save some cash and do the Princess upgrade

Not sure they would be the right thing for track, but very cost effective!!! If you find the right supply the misses wont even notice it on the credit card bill.
