i had all the consoles before, got rid now! grew out of them no point in getting one just for one game,pgr3 is awsome tho, ps3 is just under 560quid mark i think, and judging from e3 footage etc looks quite poor, although im still thinking about a nintendo wii, just for the museum of all the games from current nintendo and the fun of golf games with the controler, if you look on play.com there is abit info on there

Why sad?

I had to stop the missues buying me a Xbox360 - although I did buy one myself after considering that vs a PS3.

The fact is, its less sad than being in a loft with a train set, or for that matter, slumped in the corner of a pub dribbling, unable to communicate or walk for that matter

Read Computer Console and thought of something like a VAX system paperbag

Not realy a Gamer, but i have an XBox, Ironically the most use it gets is when myself and 2 mates get together for a chat and a round of golf (one in UK, one in Norway and one in Japan)

If paying £600 for a console and one game is your thing, go PS3. If you want to keep it more reasonable, go for 360.

I know you can get a cheaper version of the PS3, but then you loose all the features that makes it worth having in the first place and you have no chance of being able to upgrade it

Had a PS and then an X-Box.

PS has about an inch of dust on it and is sat *somewhere* ... X-Box got chipped, fitted with a 300GB HDD and install XBMC on it, so it now acts as a handy storage device that plays the odd game / DVD / slideshow of pics...

got a PS2 got lots of games. i have been watching a lot of DVD's on it recently, but i have been doing a lot more gaming since i bought "the punnisher" for a tenner a few days ago! i like movie based games i suppose as i love "the warriors" too, great film and a really great game.

Like the way all the ps3 bashers forget that they've got to buy an hd-dvd drive for their 360 to make it comparable.
Pretty similar in prices for like for like machines imo.

If you can do without then i would basically. They are fun but very addictive and it sounds like you already have a good life with the missus. Why not wait till the ps3 comes out then if you still want a consul get a cheap 360. Should be £150 by then all in and the games will be £20-£30. Plus the developers have had enough time to squeeze the full potential out of the hardware. It will be a long time untill the ps3 catches up after the initial launch frenzy. And thats just with the quality of games. Unless they can equal the online community and experience they'll be renegated to the likes of nintendo. By the time of the launch the 360 will have a steel grip on the market i think. People don't need another multi purpose consul as most living rooms already have the stuff it offers.
