My brother in law's 4200 had to be lifted two days ago , and has been advised that he needs a new gear box (on a '02 with 35k miles).

Should he look for Maserati to make a contribution or do they do this?.. I know nothing of this maker , but certainly would be appealing to Porsche if I had a similar failure .

All advice/ contact numbers would certainly be appreciated as he's looking at about £4k of a bill and there's only one official Maz dealer in Ireland.

Ballcock,

That's bad news..

A new gearbox is more like 7k for a GT and 11k for a Cambiocorsa. I had mine replaced last year under warranty but I think its certainly worth making an appeal.

Cheers,
Rich.

A quick update ... It turns out it's a gear box oil pump failure . The bill's coming to about £2200 all in. He's waiting to hear if Maz are going to consider a good will gesture.
