Boxster S Wheels What would you h
Discussion
Quick question. Been offered a Boxster S on a delivery for this weekend, but there are two possible wheel combinations I can still have that we left until the last minutre - Carrera 18", or the Turbo 2 18" (non-shiny version). Is there any difference between the two? Are the carerra wheels much lighter? Does it make a difference They seem to have the same tyres. Can anyone recommend one over the other? Does anyone have either and have been happy/or regret?
Many thanks,
Marcos

You can see both wheels on the porsche website,,www.porsche.co.uk If you go to the car confugurator, you can switch wheel pictures over after choosing the body colour.
Go with the turbo 2...leave the carrera wheels on the carreras!

I have the Carrera wheels on a 996 and am very pleased with them...Thing is on a Boxster, they are supposed to handle best on 17" wheels....the 18" wheel thing is purely for looks,,weight difference between the two 18" will be undetectable and I can't see any diff in Carrera or turbo 2 wheels for re-sale...just go with what you prefer I guess!
There will be those better to answer informed to answer this,,but I understand it's to do with the suspension set up & weight of the car...The S comes with 17" as standard....I understand it handles nuetrally on these..with the bigger wheels you may have more outright grip, but the ride is choppier due to the lower profile required to keep rolling radius more or less the same.
Also the wider tyres on the 18" wheels will give a little more understeer than standard...Tough call,,,I have heard & read many things about 17" being best,,,but so many boxster' have 18" fitted,,,almost makes you think it would affect resale chances as the masses want their 18" s even if it may not actually be in their best interests.

This is an urban myth (IMHO). The car handles fine with 18" wheels. You may find that the ride is too firm in combination with the sports suspension option.
I have 18" Sport Design wheels and the car sticks to the road like s**t to a blanket.
Whichever wheels you get its going to look great. Enjoy your car....
