Can anyone advise of the wheel nut torque. I cannot see reference to it in Steve Heath or Handbook.
If relevant these are Estoril Wheels on a 96 500

Better engineers than I (one will be along soon) will tell you the optimum torque for the exact size and thread rating of the wheel studs. However here'#s a crude but effective approach: I run five cars with alloys and the manufacturers figures are all around 78 - 82 lb ft (GM, Jaguar, Ford). I therefore do them all to 80 and have not lost a wheel yet!
Hope this helps as a quick fix!

Depending on who you ask and whether you have nickel coated steel nuts or StSt nuts you'll get answers anywhere from 50 to 120 ft/lbs. After some time I gave up and settled for TVR Engineering (Neill Anderson of old) says 55 - 60ft/lbs.

i always use 70 on race cars and same on road car if I have tool or a moderate foot pressure on the std trye lever (moderate - not mullered!).
