Hi,

Just a quick question really. Would it be feasible to fit a towbar of some sort (hopefully one that the tow bolt removes easily) to a Chim, just for pulling a trailer with a jetski on?

This may sound really dumb, but it'd be nice to have both toys in one place at the same time, rather than taking the Golf.

I had the same crazy idea as you - wanted to fit a towbar to carry my mountain bike. Tried several TVR garages and all said it wouldn't work. Final garage put the car on a ramp to show me there really is no where you could fix a tow bar.

I've overcome the problem by finding the bike fits in the boot! Sadly don't think your jetski will...

You could put the Chimaera on a bigger trailer, and the jetski as well- but I don't think a Golf would be legal/able to tow it.

How much does a jetski weigh? I similarly can't think where a tow-bar would go, but I do recall someone on here fitted one. Have you searched within this forum for "tow bar" or "towbar"?

Not thinking of Steve Heath are you and his Wedge?

I've done a search. aparrently you can fit one to a Wedge or a Griff. Whilst I like the Griff, it's not as practical as a Chim.

The Ski doesn't weigh that much at all - as in you can pick an end up without too much trouble. I just wanted to be able to get it, and the TVR down to the coast, without having to take 2 cars, or taking one car, but not the Trev.

Hey ho, such is life. Guess it'd be sacrilege to fit a towbar to a TVR anyway wouldn't it? Cheers anyway guys.

If it really is that light, you could find an enterprising roll-bar manufacturer to build a jetski carrier- much like the luggage rack on MGs.

It would look rather odd and I'd hate to pay for the petrol!

It's light, but not that light. It's light enough that I can pull it out of the sea etc, but it'd cripple a car body. Plus the trailer is used to launch it sometimes.
