Chaps, I eventually collected my car today after I initially reported its cracked windscreen to my insurers on 26/07: five weeks ago!

Autoglass originally said they'd be round my house on 28/07 and it would take them two hours! Not surprisingly they phoned back to say they'd need the car brought to them for a day and they'd have to order a screen from TVR. They received the screen after ten days and the car was booked in on 10/08.

That morning I received a call saying that the metal plates that go along the top and sides of roll bar had rusted and would need to be replaced but as Autoglass "don't do body-work" I'd have to sort it out. TVR Power were brilliant and managed to get replacements from the factory. They even took them to Autoglass, took off the old ones and riveted the new ones on.

Autoglass still weren't happy and wouldn't guarantee any work they'd do so eventually gave up after a week on 17/08.

Central TVR agreed to finish the job but as the car couldn't be driven without a windscreen they had to collect it from Autoglass on 18/10.

So the moral of the story is to hope like mad you never have to have your windscreen replaced as until they take the old one out they won't know how big the job's going to be. I'd also recommend that you use a body-shop rather than a so-called "specialist".

Cheers.... Andrew

PS. The above is the abbreviated version of events!

My dealer replaced my windscreen after it became badly scratched 'magically' while the car was in for service. They got a local fitter in to do it and the job is 99% perfect. Annoying it happened, but the dealer did their duty so I don't complain about them - accidents happen.

bugger, I've got a stone chip in mine, filled by autowindscreenexpress/whatever. Sadly it's still visible so a new screen might have to be fitted to satisfy my perfectionist ways. The chip came from my brother's flipping fat tyred Porker 996 Turbo. I shan't be letting him overtake again....!
