New insurance policy states I need to be able to record mileage for the SR3 - which is road legal, but doesn't actually have an odometer (not that I can see anyway!).

Any advice welcome, as I'm looking for simplest/cheapest option to satisfy insurance rules - as there's no way I'd manage to do more than 1500 miles on the road in an SR3!!

Scott.

Has speedo, just doesn't record miles travelled. Guess this isn't part of the standard test as it passed the SVA initially, and then an MOT this year.

Guessing a push bike speedo is a little too tamper friendly for the insurance guys to accept...

Only solution I've seen so far is the Farringdon intergrated steering wheel instrument pack - as it records distance - but it's a fairly expensive fix... but looks tempting.

Guess a call to Radical in the morning, then again, that's likely to be an expensive route to fixing a silly problem as well.

Scott.

yes SVA list speedo as a requirement; has to reasonably accurate and read up to the vehicle's maximum speed (why? we never drive faster than 70, do we, guys?), but no mention of an odometer in the SVA manual.

I assume you have already weighed up the cost/nuisance value of having to fit an odo, versus the cost of insurance with no mileage limitation? I've found that often there's little difference between limited and unlimited mileage.

Plenty of kit cars have passed SVA / MOT with only a bike speedo and they are no easier / harder to tamper with than most other after market digital dashes (and many regular tintop odos!), so I wouldnt think it would be an issue. The trick is getting one that reads a high enough speed as a lot of bike speedos don't go 100+ mph, but ISTR certain Sigma ones have been recommended in the past.

Sigma BC1200 from Halfords, records ride time so you can keep track of those engine rebuild times and has the facility to enter two sizes of wheel, reads up to 180mph. About £15 iirc.

.....and as it records ride times to the nearest minute, it suits Radical engine rebuild schedules to a tee

My XTR2 has a Stack Tacho.

One of it's functions is an odometer. Enter number of pulse points, circumference . . . Done thumbup

Problem is i don't think the words "stack" & "cheapest option" are usually found in the same sentence.
