Hi guys I took my chim in to have a new windscreen fitted yesterday as the old one had a like 18 inch crack across it .... anyhow I did what had been suggested and checked that they knew what they were doing ie they had worked on TVR's before ......all no problem according to them ...... I got the call to pick up the car 4 hours later and when I went to get said weapon I was horrified to find that the rubber seal across the top and down the sides now finished like 2 inches short of the door on both sides of the screen ! also a bubble on the turn at the top of the screen.

When I asked what was going on I was told that the rubber seal is no longer available and they had to use my old one ..... anybody any comments on this ? Looks like a f#@*^+g dogs dinner at the moment and i'm kinda unsure what to do about it.

I guess what I am actually asking is ...... is the rubber still available or am i being bullshitted ?

Post I put up with the intention of people avoiding what you are suffering now sorry you did not read it earlier:

''Had my screen replaced yesterday and took lots of advise from this forum ( thanks to all) and made sure I did my homework spoke to local TVR dealer who recomended Autoglass at stroud kent.

The guy did a fantastic job ( over 4 hours work) no damage what so ever and the screen looks a real treat ready for the summer.

Rather than get into names on the forum if any of you want more details such as branch phone number, directions and name of fitter then send me a mail

Happy Days ''

Got my new screen from Glenvarigill TVR in 2003 and it came with a new rubber seal

vv0148 screen strip £5.88
vv0150 windscreen seal £18.75

Screen fitter made a good job of replacement.

Or if you want a good independent try James Motor Sports at Ditton near Maidstone.(About 1 mile from Walldonway)
The owner used to be in charge of the workshop at Walldonway TVR. His name is Chris Baldock 01732 874 756 mobile 07866 462977.
Had someone shunt the rear of the Chim in January, Chris made a superb repair job.
Also does servicing at sensible prices, the building isn't posh but they are passionate about TVR's
