Looking for a change

Currenly driving a Westfield and I am not getting the use out of it due to the unpredictability of our weather. The car has no windscreen and therefore no weather gear. The wife hates it so that has both positives and negatives but thinking about a change.

I like the look of the S series but other than I have been able to get from this site, i know little about the car.

I think I would be looking for an S2 or S3 but I am unsure. Is there anyone in the Stevenage Herts area who would be prepared to show me their car and maybe go through the pros and cons so that I can decide if this is the car for me.

Cant make tomorrow, is this a regular meet, if so when and what time and for the thick (ie me) where is the Ace Cafe, I have heard of it but never been. Anyone out there got one at home I could look at over the weekend?

The meeting is currently on the first Friday of each month, but this will soon be changed as there is to be a big bike meet every Friday.

Went from a Westfield to a V8S about 18 months ago,now have a Griffith.

Changed mine for exactly the same reasons as you. The Tiv is much more user and wife friendly, and will give you as much driving enjoyment as the Wessie. Much harder to get the best out of the TVR, so more satisfying to drive well.

My advice would be to go for it. Just be careful to buy sensibly, it's all to easy to buy the first one you drive, the sound track is very seductive.

There are some very cheap V8S's around at the moment, a good time to buy.

I went from 2 Westfields (well the 2nd one was cheap so I had to buy it) to a S3 and don't regret it. What I do regret is not waiting another 4 months because there are some cracking cars now for sale. The S3 Cosworth for 5k stands out in my mind.

The reasons I changed were because I did 300 miles in the main WF last year - the weather being the limiting factor.
Also I didn't like the attention the WF got in car parks. The S turns heads when moving because of the noise but when parked up it is fairly discrete. Added to this a usable roof, a decent sized lockable boot and less buffeting to the occupants means that it gets used as the main car now.

Another advantage to me was that it is based on mainly Ford running gear and parts. This makes home maintenance a whole lot easier and cheaper - very much like a kit car. New front discs for £12 a pair (from Stoneleigh) for example.

It won't be as fast as the WF but what's the point of a quick car if you don't drive it?
