The company...not a fetish

They reside in an exceedingly seedy warehouse, but the service is beyond reproach. They sorted the 1D under warranty and serviced the 100-400 in very short order as they knew I was flying home. Top work...highly recommended if you're in the London area.

Martin.

Error 01?

What was actually wrong with it in the end?

Got it to Fixation and it had changed it's mind (it must be female rolleyes) it now said ERR 99. Never did find out the exact fault.
The lens was a little gritty when at 100mm, and it's had about 4 years of hard work, so I thought a little TLC wouldn't go amiss. £99 for a service.

As far as I could gather all new seals and a re-grease, but as something felt knackered (the grittiness) I think there were some extra spare parts needed. And the glass was spotless.

Greg...I'm allways in a mood with you, but it's usually a good one

No I didn't take my broken lens there, but now you've reminded me I think I will.

No, didn't get an e-mail.

Martin.

I'd call them first to make sure they do Sigma.

Interesting that you say that - mine is off to Sigma in the morning for the same reason.

Does yours sound like the focus barrel is rubbing as it moves around - particularly if you point it up at about 45 degrees?

I've just read the invoice...the camera repair also includes a free sensor clean (not that it needed one).

Martin.

It's good service, but they can be pretty pricey. Mate of mine took his 70-200 there for a new IS unit, and they quoted £450 quid odd. Canon did it for about £200. My 70-200 is bust now too, so it's gone straight to Canon.
