Head gasket needed
Discussion
I thought my exhaust bolts would not be a problem for the next couple of months. I was wrong. The new speed bumps the council are planting has seen to that
So I need to remove the LH head. Is a Range Rover 4.5 gasket the right one for a std Griff 500 or do I *need* a TVR special? (memory is not as good as it should be!)
Given the how well the car is now running on 95Ron fuel (detonation free and it seems to easily hit what feels like MBT...), it is very tempting to see if I can up the compression to 10.5:1 for a while to see what gains this allows. Anyone have any thoughts on this? And more importantly, can I achieve this from a thin gasket?
Most likely this will all be a temporary measure as I'm pulling the engine out as planned in December for (camshaft etc) fettling anyway - I can't manage without the car at the moment, so I can't just bring all the timescales forward...
