Porsche delivery dates

Ok - so I'm now in countdown mode for my 997 C2S. When I ordered it back in (early) July, I was told that I would definitely be given a heads up on delivery during the last week in August, with an expectation on a late September collection. Having spoken to my OPC today, it transpires that our friends in Stuttgart are still packing away their speedos and blow drying their mullets after spending all of August "out of the factory" and by a pool in Spanish resort.
I've had great difficulty getting a straight answer as to when I can expect the car.. Is this normal? Is this part of the experience? How long does it take once the build starts?? It's killing me..
