Went to take the car out the garage on Saturday and lo and behold the bloody thing had a flat battery because I hadn’t used it for a few weeks. Not have a battery charger and wanting to make best use of the weather at the weekend I trotted off to Halfords to purchase a battery charger suitable for the beast. After a brief discussion with one of there competent sales assistant’s? I purchased an automatic battery charger as I was told that it would be best for my occasional use.

On reading the instructions (I know it’s a totally unbloke thing to do) it said that the battery should be taken out the car or if not the negative post to body connection should be removed for the charging process.

What’s the implications from not disconnecting the negative terminal on the car and does anyone else use this charger or should I take it back and swap it for an accumate ? It’s just I wanted to use it on a weekly basis and don’t want to have to keep disconnecting the battery as it’s a real pain in the backside.

If you have power in the garage, get a battery conditioner (accumate, airlow, whatever). Then the battery will be ready to go every time.

There were some extensive threads a couple of months ago on Batteries and Battery Chargers, what to do and wheather to charge in car or out etc. Try a search.
From Halfords I bought a DRAPER BATTERY MASTER you leave this connected to the car to keep the battery topped up, works perfectly cost was reasonable, just actually bought a second one from our Trago Mills outlet and although its not Draper and doesn't have the "on" light on it,it was only £4.99 and looks identical.

Rustoni.
Just a thought Is it worth having your battery checked? I hadn't started mine for nearly 2 month's, jumped in last week, turned the key and hey presto Broom broom
