Has anyone had any experience moving an NTL broadband account to another address? Is it fairly seemless or do they manage to mess things up? I need BB in my new place, but may not be living there in 6 months so will have to move (or pay a disconnection fee!) if I do get ntl. Can't get adsl as far as I know so ntl seems to be the onyl option? My dad has it and it seems fine aside from randomly dropping it's dns servers.

What do you think it's like?!

They planned on leaving us for around a week with no services - we screamed blue murder as Mrs Puggit was 7 months pregnant at the time. They agreed to come over the day after we moved in thumbup

Then when trying to ring up to get everything reconnected, they disconnected everything instead. This royally screwed up the billing, especially as we were receiving free Sky Sports - which we were then charged for.

Good luck, you'll need it!

Sounds like typical NTL! It's fine when it's working...

Yes

It was the biggest song and dance I have ever had the displeasure of going through. The call centre chimps just couldn't co-ordinate anything.

Do yourself a favour and get rid of them as soon as your initial 12 month contract period is up. They are in cahoots with Satan and take pleasure in making your life a misery.

I have since told them where to shove their service and have switched to another provider, over ADSL, and have never looked back.

Rubbish! If you have a BT phone line, you can get ADSL.

As puggit said...Good luck! biglaugh

Thing is NTL is far cheaper than getting a line installed, paying for line rental, having my housemates rack up bills on the landline.. and paying for broadband too!

I want a BT line but without paying £11 a month just to keep it online, plus another £20 ish for broadband! And before anyone says - I'm not going to use talktalk or anyone like that as I work for TT and know how bad their service is despite the cheap price!

Any ideas? Also is there any adsl providers who give decent speeds for a reasonable price? I want guarenteed speed, not 'estimated' or 'up to' - I know this isn't always possible due to technology.

I have just moved house. I decided to cancel the connection/account at the old address and ask for a new connection to be setup. Apart from having to play about becuase the 'technicians' couldnt get the modem to lock onto the signal (due to cable placement, the crimp and confusion with a filter) and having to spend 15 minutes getting it up and running myself then all seems to have gone OK.

Yep. Disaster area. Especially as I was going from a cable to an adsl area. They got my email addresses locked up for 6 months and nobody seemed to be able to unlock them despite many hours on the phone to various departments. I think the adsl guys are more on top of things than the cable guys.

My advice - disconnect from your old address, then connect as a new customer at the new.

Cheers,

Andy.
