Tips for a fast 1/4 mile?

OK - as mentioned, I'm on to the next challenge in my 550GTR's short history. Santa Pod - 8am tomorrow.
Ted has told me to turn the rear shocks right down (only one click) to aid traction and to have the rears at 18psi. Ride height will be at 110/160.
He also told me to try a couple of runs from first and then move to second and see how it pans out.
Any other tips?

Yo P, if it were me (I will have my day soon), I would make the front shocks as hard as they will go and drop the rear tyre pressure down to 10 psi. As long as you take tools to put everything back to standard, you can't go wrong really can you?. Probably well OTT but how about skinny front wheels?, they are split rims after all

I believe 2nd is what Richard uses - but I haven't, yet, so perhaps to get a 'banker' in, and make a gentle move away from what I'm used to, I may do a 1st gear to start with.
I'm so used to 1sts with a snake get away, that the additional traction of a race strip migh be quite strange. Stalling possibility?

hope you enjoy santa-pod did 2 events there last year and had a lot of fun , i found the best times where achieved by starting in second 3000 rpm as soon as clutch is fully engaged nail the throttle and hold on , when i tried first i just got either wheel spin or axle tramp ,be carefull not too get the clutch slipping if you do lift off or else you will smoke it . try and keep under bonnet temps down as you will lose power if everything gets hot , i tried not to que for too long with the engine running, did 5 runs last time out best time ........

Lucky, if you are dropping your tyre pressures, get some chalk or crayon and mark between the rim and the tyre... you may find that you spin the tyres on the rim and this will give you an indicator as to whether it's happening..
I'm not saying you will, but it's certainly something to watch out for..

These are Goodyear road radials we are talking about here, not drag race slicks or even DOT road legals and even as well as they grip, I can't see that you will have a problem with them spinning on the rim (albeit a small amount of movement) and even if they do, so what?

Mine spin on the rims just in road use and still everyone tells me I don't try hard enough.

Errmm ........BTW, Tescos was 99RON (there's one excuss in the bag
)
Tried a few 2nd gear standing starts on the way back. No spin, but a real drop in revs on take off. More gas me thinks. (1st is a joke, no sooner have I done 4 body lengths, I find my self at 6500 and grabbing for 2nd.
3000 and 2nd seems to be OK yeah?
Off to prepare a tool kit now (leatherman and tie wraps!!)
