Specs on the A1
Discussion

Two specs gantries have been installed on the A1 between the two stevenage junctions enforcing a temporary 50 limit I think they're due to be there until november
That should not be a problem for anybody if it is a temporary arrangement for roadworks etc. It's the permanent installations that we ought to be concerned about.
Best wishes all,
Dave.
I counted 3 yesterday!! To make sure I was'nt seeing things, I counted them again this morning.
Is that legal??? I think it's to trick the motorist into speeding up after the second camera, only to be nabbed by the third
forgot to mention it's southbound.

Of course it isn't illegal. You are supposed to obey the limit the whole time, not just for two cameras.

So why are there 3 then?

I thought you were allowed to drive really fast for half the distance between any given pair of cameras and slow down to a crawl for the remainder.
Sorry, couldn't resist that, Von

So why are there 3 then?
Two cameras create a zone, more cameras make it a network.

....which simply amounts to an even bigger pain in the ass, though I know before you say it that you'll disagree Von. I'm resigned to that. The twain ain't ever goin' to meet 'ere! Shame!
Now if we were to talk about matters to do with driving better and more safely, we could make some sense together....
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Some possible explanations:
a) you're blind
b) you can't count
c) one of the cameras is a dummy
d) one more camera is to soon go up
e) the cameras monitor traffic speeds between all camera sites, not just alternate pairs of sites
to keep your driving licence safe, you should assume e
