rough running

Took the car for a bit of a run today, got stuck in the London traffic on the way home, sat it one jam for about 20 mins then another for about 5, temperature never went above 90 but in the second jam it started idling at about 4-500 rpm and sounded like it was running on about 4 cylinders, drove it home and parked it up, revved it a few times and it seemed to clear itself, nipped round the block quickly and it seems ok but maybe a couple more pops out the exhaust for the first minute or 2. Any ideas what is up? The engine is only just run in btw, also I filled it with Sainsbury's super the other day, it was running fine all day though just now it's playing up so doubt it to be the fuel.

It could be early signs of your coil or igntion amp heading south... mine was effected by heat soak which doesn't necessarily link directly to the engine temp getting too high. it started out like this but soon got worse and worse.. no real why of checking them as far as i know?? but if it start happening more frequently then worth a go... good luck...

I think TVR Power fitted a new coil when they did the engine work but I'll check the receipt I have, might be worth getting a new module as had problems before with the connections before so rewired it but never replaced it.

Had this on my Chim a while back when the outside temp hit 36Deg. Sat in stop start traffic for 30 mins and every 3 or 4 mins she would drop to about 400RPM then catch, rev up to about 1500 then repeat. A quick prod of the throttle up to 4000rpm solved it for 5 mins then it repeated.

I have new leads and coil so I put it down to severe heat soak of the fuel line making the fuel evaporate. Used to get this a lot on my old Renault 5 turbo, felt exactly the same.

It never happened before and not since and I have been stuck in traffic, so I hope I am right.
