Plugging a Road Angel into the cigarette lighter?

We have been lent a road angel to try out before I buy MOH one for the cerb for his birthday, as he is travelling to Hereford regularly in Nov and I don't want speeding fines dropping on the mat left, right and center.

So it plugs into the cigarette lighter, has anyone got one and has it been ok? Would hate to plug it in and it blows all the fuses.

i have one and use it all the time with no problems so far

No problems with it blowing up BUT there have been quite a few lighter sockets that have pulled out, they then usually fuse so when you pull the plug out be careful, i leave my lead pluged into the lighter socket and unplug the road angel from the lead to prevent this.

Yep, as above all works like a dream. But there are also a few reports (me included) of false alarms. If you're gunning it aparently this causes some interference in the power supply and can make the unit think there is a laser around...has led to some interesting power on / power off action round these parts.

Am trying to find a regulator lead for it...

Halfords are selling the Compact version with free laser detector for £150 at the moment. I'm thinking of getting one

Borrowed a friends this weekend and it went well, no major blips and we managed to pull the connector out of the lighter socket no trouble.

MOH just needs to make his mind up which version he wants and I'll get the cheque book out.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but:
Why don't you just buy a second power cable from Blackspot Interactive, and get your local Car Audio place to 'hard wire' it into the ignition for you? That way no faffing around with the cigarette lighter and no risk of anything shorting out or going pop!
We have done that for the Road Angel and Portable Sat Nav, much neater and easy to transfer units from one car to the other, just plug them in and go!
