Know next to naff all about these cars, but an offer of one has come out of the blue.

A friend of my partner has a 5800-mile 2006 example, which he wants shot of, he reckons it just 'isn't him' and his increased business miles makes my BMW 535d the perfect choice for him, more so since it has been remapped by DMS and is quite quick now.
He is up for a deal next week.

How good are these RS4 beasties? Apparently the fuel economy is horrific but that aside, would i be getting a fantabulous car at a bargain price? (I'd effectively be paying £43,000).

Any info or opinions appreciated.

Buy it - especially at that price.

You will not be disappointed.

At £43k i'd buy it now. I've only test driven one for a couple of hours and I found it sensational. Probably my next car, but only if they're down to £30k in a couple of years time. At the moment they are holding their value very well.

£43K is a steal, bite his arm off. At a guess id reckon you would get 15 MPG average??

Hmm...i don't want to sound a skinflint, but that's almost as bad as my gas-guzzling 7.4 litre Corvette, which averaged 12.
Having looked into the car a bit deeper, it seems a fantastic, useable sports saloon, but i am averaging 28 mpg at present with 40 mpg on a run.

He's had a pretty decent offer from a dealer, part-ex for a lightly used Merc diesel, time will tell what happens, the next 6 days in fact.

I think 15mpg is a bit pessimistic. Audi's website reckon 21mpg (combined cycle).
