Are Griffs for Tall Boys

I''m a lurker around this forum as I am interested in buying a Griff one day. Living in NZ, getting the opportunity to try one on for size is rather limited. So considering I am 6''6" and 19 stone, will I fit in a Griff? (like with the hood up!) or will I just look over the windscreen like I do in an E-Type Roadster? cheers

I'm 6'3" and have loads of room in mine. If your in Aukland I do know of an owner of a Griff out there, he rents it out to drive Grooms to weddings as the things are so rair I'll look up an e-mail address if needed. I think you will have to do a personal import though !!

Should just be OK with the height but might be a bit tight, not that I'm saying you're a fat bar stool.. I'll get me jacket.... PS See my profile, I'm 6' 3" and don't have the seat all the way back. "If you go for a test drive, remember the pedals and steering column are adjustable too." I don't know about the early Griffiths, but the seat runners on the later cars can be adjusted to lower the seat too.

Thanks to you all for replying. at least now I know I have a great chance of fitting in them, I'll find more out about them. There are probably a couple of dozen griffs here in NZ and I am not really into bugging the owners (so I thought I would bug you lot! ). Due to my 7 year investment(?) in the restoration of my Triumph Stag (http://www.stag.org.nz) I think it will take me a year or so before I have sufficent funds to start looking as the stag will never be sold. Any pointers to resources on the net like mailing lists to do with the Griff? I note in this forum there are grumblings about reliability of the engines and service costs. So are they any worse than a Stag? cheers Dean

With the Griffith, generally talking to owners/dealers. The engine is NOT a problem, service it properly and you would not expect any problems. There are some dodgy cars out there, but generally have been thrashed, or not maintained properly by owners trying to do things on the cheap. The service cost can be quite high, but a lot of that is down to a 7 hour labour requirement. (expensive at main dealers) Good independants charge around £240 and 340 + VAT for the major minor services. Which I can live with, theya re relatively simple cars, so you have the mechanical ability, and a good workshop book (links on this site somewhere to Steve Heaths Griff, Chim workshop book) you could do it all yourself B Edited by bjwoods on Wednesday 26th September 10:29

Only 6'2" but 18 stone, griff has far more leg and headroom than e-type. Also have a stag, griff engine far more reliable than the stag v8, however every other part of the stag is more reliable than the griff and thats saying something!

I may be importing my Griff into Aus to sell but it could take a detour if you can raise that cash quicker!
