OK,
Hopefully i will be moving to London soon which will mean i no longer need a car. However i have built up nearly 4 years NCB and dont want to lose it.

What happens if i move to London, sell the car and dont buy another one for 2 years. Does my NCB stay valid over the period without insurance? Will i be able to claim the discount on any new policy?

Depends on insurer. I think most allow a lapse of 4 years before it becomes useless.
Might be worth getting a cheap sloped for buzzing about on, insurance will be about 3p a year and it'll keep the NCB running.

was thinking about that but would need to keep in MOT and stuff. I doubt an old banger will pass MOT's easily.

Just take insurance on a friends car, even if you dont drive it. That way you dont have to worry about mot tax repair bills etc.

do you have to have MOT & Tax to insure a car? i mean if you've got a car mothballed somewhere(like i have) whats to stop me insuring it FC incase some scum takes a fancy to it? or is it a case of if there aint no MOT or Tax then insurers won't pay out if it gets stolen?
