:grumpy: Seatbelt gone t!ts-up

O.k, I think that just one too many fat chicks has brought about the demise of my passengers seatbelt. The mechanism no longer wants to release the pawls from the ratchet and allow the belt to encompass such Titanic Totty.
It's a sealed unit so my want for a good old meddle has been dashed. Do these things frequently fail? Does anyone have a serviceable unit I can have/buy? Has anyone found a better replacement for not excessive money? Don't want a 19 point harness!
As a temporary measure, I'm keeping those of the gigantuan persuasion secured in place with a 'Spanset'; it may be illegal but it stops 'em rolling over to my side in left handers!

My Griff used to be a little temperamental, but the Tuscan has to be the winner in the bl00dy, bl@$ted, bv££ering, b0110x belts competition.
Usually needs to be on the flat for it to release, and sometimes has the tendency to keep tightening up and doing a boa constrictor impression on Mrs Beano.
....and the difference between the Griff and the Tuscan? Well, you tend to go round corners faster in the Tuscan, so when the belt does start tightening up....

Yea, but this time it's really fugged. The thing is removed from the installed position and no matter what the orientation or administering of rude words, rattles, taps, bangs, pulls and shoves, it just draws itself up. Gonna need a replacement!

Your old Griff is still a little tempremental in that respect.
It's less irritable when the seat is further forward for some reason.
