Generally speaking it's the same frequencies, so should work fine.

It's currenty sat on the dining room table and works fine (just tested it).

So anytime after 2:30 tomorrow is perfect, as Mrs. K will be home then.

It's one of these: www.t3.co.uk/reviews/general/general/kensington_wifi_finder

But it's not the best bit of kit in the world - but it generally works (and it's fully packaged, unopened and free)

Charlie,

I can leave it on top of the bin in the bin cupboard (outside the front door).

Then you can come anytime.

I assume, probably incorrectly, that you are using XP? If so then there is one buit into XP. This is usually disabled when installing third party software for wireless cards but can be turned on again. Most of the third party software has a way of doing the same thing too and often you just have to set it looking and ot will bring up a list of available networks with all necessary info. Then just higlight the one you want and click connect (assuming not network key needed).

Is it possible to get one of these danglies that also tells you if the hotspot is unencrypted?

As previosly mentioned XP's built in search program for wireless network will tell you whether they are encrypted or not and even what sort of key. However you still need to know what it is to get access. Saying that there are ways around that too, if you know how. biglaugh

Indeed it will, but I still have to get my laptop out to see if it's encrypted, which is kinda missing the point
