I have seen a Nov 2000, LHD GT3 with just under 20,000Km on the clock for £50,000 and have no idea about second hand prices when it comes to Porsche. Is this a good price and is there anything I should look out for.

Hoping to become an owner soon.

Sounds about right - ISTR Dage Sport or whatever John Greasley calls it now had a red comfort spec one for sale at around that money...and I've seen a number at the £49,995 price level - that ought to make them nearer £40k abroad?

I've also spotted another car for sale and I know it's from one extreme to another but what I'm after is the best deal on a 911 so if I like the car after six months I can sell it on and get a better one and if I don't, at least it wont work out to much of an expensive mistake.

I can get the German 16% mwst off, but the car must be 2 years old or more. The car will be LHD as I live in Germany so what car would you recommend for residual value. Price is not a problem as the more expensive the car the bigger the tax saving.

The other car I've seen is a LHD, 2000, 911 Carrera Coupe with 45,000km for £28,500.

I know it's a lot of questions but I just need a starting point.

Go for the GT3 for residual value.

The standard LHD 996s are quite cheap over here, and I reckon you could get hold of one for 28k if you looked hard enough. I haven't seen a GT3 below 40k that wasn't a racing car, and doubt they will lose much more over the coming years.

As always seems to be the case, RS and GT3s seem to have a much shallower depreciation curve than the other models.
