I posted a topic earlier on whether TVRs were a substitute for the love of a good woman. Having been let down I now know the answer is yes and then some. Can anyone save me from becoming bitter and twisted towards woman? Petrolted close this topic if you like, whatt do I care.

On which subject, why is it that I know so many more nice single men than nice single women? (please don't take this as a cue to call all women every name from a pig to a dog, it really upsets me).

It's just that I know quite a few nice blokes who I'd really like to get fixed up with someone lovely, but I don't think the single women I know are quality enough.

I don't subscribe to the 'all women are cows and all men are dead straight' argument - I think there's about the same amount of scum across both sexes. But has anyone else noticed that amongst the professional 30-somethings at least, the single chaps seem to be nicer than most of the single women?

Ocean1, remind me to buy you a pint if you got to Pie5.. Can't help you I'm afraid, but you aren't the only one..

At least the TVR won't let you down. Well, it might, in a 'they all do that' sort of way, but its not done deliberately.. :crossingfingersinthehopeshedidn'tseemelookingatthatblckGriff:

On the subject of Love : I think that there is often a misunderstood aspect to all of this. Our western culture forces us to see love as something to placed on a pedestal or that you will find love at first sight....

For those that have found it this way then great. For those that havent, it isnt any less or uncomparible. We are bombarded constantly by the images of perfect love and this means that we often loose sight of what it really is - which is unique to us all....

There is no one single formula or bolt of lightening. Its perculiar to each and everyone of us and you should go with what you feel is the best - and not what you think is the best....

Rather profound for me - you would understand if / when you met me.... so I will leave it at that.

Cheers,

Paul

You need Udate, you do!

A, er, mate of mine signed up on there and went through the rigmarole of creating his personality profile and that of the sort of people he wanted to meet. He had a few chats online with people but not much happened.
Then, one night, he was browsing the profiles of all those women that were online at the time, and sent a message to one blonde that particularly caught his eye. Now, she didn't appear in his 'match' list, and he wasn't in hers, but they ended up meeting and have been together ever since. Last I heard they were bollock-naked in some woods somewhere last Sunday, but that may have been a rumour
Another mate was highly sceptical that this was a suitable way of meeting people, but after a bottle or six of Old Peculier he was persuaded to do the decent thing. Three weeks later he met a nurse from Northumberland and they too have been together ever since.
Now, I ain't no expert on love, but I'd say that relationships that last more than a year can't be based entirely on rumpy-pumpy?

Awaiting a flaming,

Cupid

Rude girl - that is absolutely spot on. I have several female friends that are single - and the reason is they are just toooooooo fussy.

Cars always used to be girlfriend-substitutes for me, whilever I was single.

But since 'settling down', cars are becoming strangely attractive once again. Maybe it's like how married couples stop having sex (great reason not to propose to your girlfriend, that one).

Never been out with a single girl in my life. If no-one else wants her, she can't be much good, can she...

Hmm, think I'd better take cover.

It's a funny old world. My first TVR was more than adequate compensation for the extremely painful and humiliating behaviour I endured from my ex-wife during her (openly) adulterous phase prior to our divorce. I bought it really as a 40th. birthday present to myself, and it gave me a wonderful sense of freedom and independence that perfectly fitted my mood at the time. I will never forget the hot June of 1999, when I first got the car!

Luckily, I still own a TVR, but even more luckily, I now have a wonderful girlfriend, who gives me a wonderful sense of freedom and independence, that fits perfectly with my current mood. But she gives me many things a TVR can't - So case proven, m'lud!

Sorry to hear of your woman troubles. Frankly - throwing oneself into whatever pursuits one has whilst allowing time to pass is the only cure for a broken heart.

Only once you've left the emotional baggage of the previous relationship behind can you properly appreciate a new love.

I was badly let down years ago. But I view it as a good thing as it meant I could meet my wife.

There is nothing like a good woman. I love my cars. But I'd be rid of them long before I'd be rid of the wife.

Good luck. Remember this is a temporary setback. You'll meet the right lass - just don't try for a bit.

And enjoy your Tivver to the max!

Absolutely! It's the 'List' syndrome. Girls of a 'certain age' start to define precisely what they want from a relationship and their partner and then no man on earth stands a chance of ticking every box - or those that do are already married! Having not been 'available' since 1978 I am umable to offer any advice but you have my sympathy and I promise that somewhere out there is the right one for you (she's probably under 30 though!)

Hmm.. well, a car won't object if you lock it in the garage for a month when you're fed up with it. A woman will. Take it from me

CarZ, mate. You should issue a warning prior to one liners like that. Its going to take twenty minutes to clean the coffee out of the keyboard....

If they're aged 10 to 15, I'd say they're definitely girls, not women
