I need some help to decide.....
I've recently been offered a job in London for a company I used to work for. The only reason I left them was a slight disagreement about how much much I was worth and beacuse I didn't want to continue working in London (I was married then - now seperated, and wife lived in Midlands, so lived away in the week, which was difficult).
I've got a good job now, not much stress but also not very challenging. I don't really feel satisfied in it, but it is an easy life really.
The job in London is with team of people which are by far the best I have ever worked with - in terms of support and team work I mean. It is also quite a lot more money (about another £15,000), but it means moving back to London in the week (they pay all costs for flat food etc), but I have no particular ties in the Midlands anymore (except friends, but i'll keep my place there for weekends).
Given that I only recently split with the wife, I want to make sure I decide for the right reason (although I don't know what they are!!).
Any advice?

From the info given here, I'd say if you prefer the job that is offered to you, know that you will like doing it, and with the extra money, go for it... It depends how bothered you are about leaving your current job, and your friends and other commitments in the midlands... If you plan to be there at the week ends, I can't imagine your friends being overly against it...
If it was me, I'd do it.

The reasons you've given sound like superb motives for taking a job.
Are your reservations based on hope that you may get back together with your wife?

No - absolutely not, its an amicable and final split. But it's still a pretty emotional time, and i'm not sure if i'm looking for a change for the sake of it. Although that might not be a bad thing.
My own personal view on this, is that you should never go back to a former employer. You've left - you've moved on. What you did and for whom is in the past. I've worked in several places where this has happened and the person who came back in each case, always felt a bit "out in the cold" and never really settled.
I think there's always a subconcious belief that things will be as they were when you left. The reality is that other people will have left too, new people will have joined, others will have been promoted and so on. It's never the same.
If they they now think you're worth an additional £15k, it stands to reason that others will too.
Only my opionion and I guess different industries work in different ways.

Working away from your 'home' during the week might help you get on with life? Concentrate on work, further your career, pocket the nice extra cash and then after a year or two, you can get a job closer to 'home' if you want, or stay in London.
Go for it. Sounds like a good opportunity

I've always said never go back as well - but the people I worked in a team in the past with, are now Directors (they weren't responsible for me leaving).
I'm pretty sure about this aspect of it.

Could you take take some time off from your current job and go and work at the old/new place for a few days to see how things look before making such a major decision?
