Can you help me?

I have my boyfriend's TIV and I am unable to get into the boot this evening. I can hear the solenoid clicking away and have tried censored to look for the 'magic button' to no avail!

Anyone experienced similar and willing to share a quick fix solution?

Sorry, Censored your post to remove "sensitive" info.

BTW have you got in yet?

I'd delete part of your post.

Try pressing gently down on the boot prior to pressing the button, or if there's 2 of you, at the same time.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tried both approaches but it is still jammed.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions on how to get into the boot?

Now posting on here is causing the same anxiety as the boot!!!

The car is a 97 . . . and I've tried to send an email . . . which I fear is lost in the ether with the release mechanism.

The boot has now been opened and a glass will soon be raised to thank Big Al for all his help last night.

The next conundrum...why does the boot release button not work and what can I do about it?

Any help or ideas appreciated!!

I had the problem that the solenoid was activating, but the mechanical clasp did not open. I gave the mechanism & good oiling, and it worked fine.

I think you said you heard the solinoid working in that case.....

I would recommend a new solinoid!

Failing that, get the switch checked out.

The boss has now returned and found that the cable stop end appears to have pulled right through the 'eye' of the solinoid without damage.

He hopes that a new cable and stop end will repair this successfully, albeit in two weeks time...I'll keep you posted and say nothing of the blown headlight!!!

Thanks again.
