Given that prices seem to be low at the moment (I get more tempted each day), I wonder what this will go for?

I`m interested myself,no mention of output though.

not as powerful but a better noise, from both ends of the car!

I would say that a fair guess on power would be somewhere between 270-300bhp at the crank. I did a fair bit of research into a new RV8 for my chim before i got the cerb and a stage 3 4.6 RV8 would make around 280-290. However the single plenum may restrict this to less than 280bhp. The best thing would be to get this car cheap take it to boostedls1 and Joolz and get them to fit a turbo for £2-3k. That would be fun

I really dont see the appeal of this car. Sorry for all lovers of the RV8, but it just doesnt suit the Cerbera, and it'll be a fair bit slower.

Would be interesting to see what the insurance cost would be...scratchchin...wonder if it would be any cheaper?

I also agree with above, the RV8 lump doesnt quite look right in a Cerbera...

I agree with your sentiments here, I run an RV8 and love it, but would only want a cerbie with a proper engine; they need the performance of an AJP 420 or 450 both of which are on the money imho

Crikey!Just looked at the number plate and I was the original owner. I ordered it from Kerridges at the 1995 motorshow, picked it up in March 1997 and had 3 wonderful yesrs with it until I received my Tuscan.........biggest mistake I made. Was immaculate when I traded it and had done 11,000 miles. Saw it for sale on the classifieds here a few months ago and contacted the owner to fill in some details. Apparently at some point the crank let go, hence the engine transplant.

I ran the exact same set-up in my Tuscan racer and it gave good power, approx 300bhp, which was quicker accelerating than the Cerb 4.2 I had at the same time. Although the Cerb is heavier I would think this will be not far short of a standard 4.2 and will sound better and be cheaper to run, ideal for a daily driver (as I was considering it for). I have communicated with the owner and the reserve is not low, but then if you take into account the work and cost of this conversion I suppose it wouldn't be. Also the work was carried out by a very competent ex-main dealer engine man who I have used previously. I reckon it will be a similar price to that of a 4.2, so I won't be bidding if the reserve stays the same. Steve, being a RV8 man you really should know better, hows things goin by the way?

Cheers, Al.

Looking at the engine bay picture - the second air pipe (drivers side) looks like it does not go anywhere, hopefully it is capped otherwise it will be sucking in hot air without going through an air filter?

Interesting car and looks like a good conversion with all the right bits (Emerald ECU etc.) You could always add a new TVR Power supercharger if it wasn't quick enough, but I reckon it'll be 'real world fast' as it is, with more torque low down than the AJP.

Has it had a colour change at some point? Or is it just bad photos, as that car doesn't look rosso pearl to me!

You can always drop in an Ajp8 or Speed Six. A new 350-390 hp 6 would make it a sound car. And faster . . .

It's alot of work for little gain.

But its alot of work to fit a RV8 where an AJP used to be for no gain.

Purely IMHO, I cant help but feel the bigger crank AJP8's are strong enough reliability wise. To add in that they make the Cerbera what it is, with there violent rev hungry attitude and valve overlap induced giggles... I really see very little appeal to an RV8 Cerb. I'd consider one in something with a lesser engine than an AJP, and I can understand the RV8's appeal in other cars - just not a Cerbera.

No, hasn't had a colour change, although Rosso does fade and there have been at least 2 versions of it. I ordered it in Rosso Pearl the first time it was shown at the Motorshow, when TVR said it was only a show colour only. "Do it or I don't sign!" was my comment at the time.Delayed speccing eberything else so as to not have a very early car for obvious reasons. Was also the very first car by memory to be specified with the complete door card done in vinyl rather than that horrible rough door mat stuff, another thing they said couldn't be done at the time.Really was a cracking car, by far the best of the 4 TVRs I owned.Shame the Tuscan and the attitude of the factory to its problems put me off for life.

Check my profile for what my Rosso Pearl looks like. It looks like when I get a respray, I'll have to make sure I get the right Rosso Pearl!

I've had three tvr's.Two s series, and a 4.0 chim.Loved all of 'em to bits.(Chim most)And I'll get another once my baby get's to toddler time.I hardly ever had the roof down on these cars(Dont be disgusted)but I feel like a tool in a covertible.I love tvr convertibles, but it's a tvr for me and a convertible for my good lady. She always had the roof down when she took it out( dont be disgusted, she's an ace driver)I also loved the chim so much due to the ultra-reliable, and delicious power delivery of the V8. Oh yeah , the noise too! Now I know the greedy boys will condemn this ancient wheezy old engine as underpowered, but for me, on the road, that puny 200 BHP, puhing just over a ton was a right laugh and never left me wanting.
What I'm getting at is that I reckon tvr should have built this car.Cerbera's are, IMO, well up there among the most beautiful cars tvr ever made.Long, low slung, pretty face nice backside and beutiful on the inside too(Not shallow me). They don't have a pain in the arse soft top to keep up to either. and the only thing stopping me fom ever getting one is the fact that they were never fitted with my beloved rover V8.(dont be disgusted).
Personally I think this car has everything. Colour, style, and engine.
I'm not buying it though, I'm bloody skint(or i very would)
And no, I'm not the seller.
