Hi all. Basically just seeing if anyone has replaced their cooling system before - DIY. My 4.2 is having overheating issues (as they do) and will be upgrading to: Alu Rad, S.Steel pipes and Silicon tubes. Also replacing the thermostat. The radiator will be no issue, Thermo stat is simple enough, silicon tubes are a little tricky getting them attached, but the most difficult I'm assuming will be the Steel pipes.
Any advice? (i dont have the facility to remove the engine)

Thanks/
Dave

Fiddly, but not difficult would be a fair summary.

I had the whole system apart last winter. Chnaging the swan neck pipes is fairly straight forward, but access is a pain. Easier to take the bonnet off, especially if the rad is coming out. Whilst all the pipework is out, it may be worth cleaning, painting and waxoyling the chassis around hte pipes as it is much easier to do whilst they are out.

If you are looking at cooling, an essential upgrade would be the cooling chip for your ECU. £65.00 from Trackcar Solutions.

Alright cool. Will be visiting TCS at some point to have my Cerb checked out, de-cats put in and chip installed. Hoping to get on the dyno to check out performance because it feels sluggish... find myself bottling the overtake because the power doesn't feel all there.

wavey Jon, we meet again in a thread about cooling hehe

David, check out this thread for a run down of the job and part no's for thermostats etc. As Jon said, not difficult just fiddly and the suggestion about taken the bonnet off is a very worthwhile one.

Blimey, I had forgotten that thread. Good call!

Well, that's cooling sorted then. Back to my bugg3r3d clutch

Don't Jon.... I snapped my oil pump/pas shaft on Sunday morning and currently the engine is not in situ with my Cerb but rather on the workshop floor next to it. The only saving grace (i think) is that I have all the spares needed still attached to the engine that I snapped the crankshaft on. The one that is sitting next to my old knackered clutch and flywheel....which is sitting next to my old knackered bellhousing which is............
