rather odd looking 512
Discussion
parked up in our marina this evening was a bright red old style 512 rari...
i'm pretty good at working out the models, but this one stumped me... for a start it looked like it had a targa roof panel... also quite odd was that it had three sets of rear lamps as opposed to the more conventional two sets.
the tax disc said ferrari so it wasn't a replica...
it looked pretty funky with it's low wide one-piece opening rear clamshell.
anyone shed any light on it?

Nice pic of the original 365BB rear end complete with the hideous 6 pipe exhausts which many converted to the better looking 512 4 pipe version (aka Sports exhaust). Obviously not the right tipo though as the original poster did say it had a Targa roof and boxers didn't.
Hope this helps

those light look right...
the general look of the car looked liked the 512 and grills on the back on of the clamshell certainly seemed to be hiding a 12 cylinder engine.
the car had a 4 exhaust pipes (2 each side)
i wondered whether the car was fixed head and it was just the join with the clamshell, but i seem to remember there being a join at the windscreen pillar also.
if it's still in the car park this morning, i'll get some pics.
