I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D50, which came with the 18-55 lens. Mrs Dibble has very kindly bought me the 55-200 lens, so I'm a very happy bunny...

Now how the hell do I "force" the flash to work, such as when I'm shooting a 'backlit' subject, ie sun behind, or person inside in front of window?

I've read the manual cover to cover, but it's (obviously) not in English...

I shall post up some Canadia pictures shortly, but please be gentle with me when I do.

I've never used that camera but I would imagine you just have to pop the flash up?

you will have to be within the camera's sync speed and just press the little flash button and it will pop up. you should then put the flash exposure compesation down to balance ambient and flash light.
