Possible security/virus threat.
Discussion
Just had TWO emails this morning purporting to be from microsoft, and offering a security patch/update via attachments.
Didnt open them, didnt scan them...just deleted them.
One came in personal email, the other came in Bulk folder.
From what i know, microsoft will NEVER attempt to contact you unless you initiate the contact first.
Dont get caught out guyz!

Yep, common method for tricking people. Used to use Intel and AOL as the other people that 'authenticated' the email. Doesnt work for most - but does for some. If in doubt assume all email is false, until proved otherwise.

Sorry - I wasn't too clear about that. MS sent out a security update notification today. It simply contains links to the Microsoft website for further info - I did sign up to this.
The ones you are getting indeed sound like a virus. Cleverly they have waited til MS did its first security bulletin to confuse it bods/users alike.
I sell AV software for a living (amongst other stuff) so I'm well aware of the dangers etc thanks all the same though DeltaF.
Please email me a copy of your email to alun[at]pentangle.co.uk
