Sad Day in the Ballon House
Discussion
The day has arrived when I have put my beloved Tuono up for sale.
Unfortunately the knees (left mostly) cannot cope with the acute angle to the pegs on a sports bikes. Half an hour of riding leaves me in a lot of discomfort which takes the edge of the enjoyment factor.
Of course the obvious solution, before anyone jumps in, is to keep the Tuono as the track bike and by something easier on the old legs. However the 'War Dept' would not take to kindly to that so we are left with finding an alternative.
I have some ideas myself but would very much appreciate fellow PH's input.
I am 6'2'' with relatively long legs.

Depends on how and what you use a bike for
.
I've ofteen thought about changing my R1 for a BMW K1200R or maybe a R1200 GS but I'm still comfortable on the R1 after a 70 mile return commute so I'm sticking with the R1 and sports bikes for now, however, I may change in a few years to one of the above.
Good luck it's a tough choice.

I have similar problems with wrecked knees after a childhood spent spearing off crossers at odd angles! My left knee often hurt like hell after an hour on my CBR600RR. My neighbour is a sports physio, and gave me some treatment in return for varying quantities of Single Malt!
I find losing weight (at her advice), and lots of swimming/mountainbiking builds up the quads and stabilises the knees. Turned out I had a partially ruptured cruciate, that for all I know could have been damaged for years.
Pays to get an expert to check you out...

I commute most dats and do some moderate touring, Le Mans GP's etc.
I wish it was as easy as physio but unfortunately all cruciate ligaments replaced 20 years ago due to rugby injury, now 6 ops on and no cartilage in the left the knee.
Still could be worse, no riding at all!!
Anyone tried a BMW 1200 GS or Ducati Multistrada.
