I'm shooting (hoho) indoor paintball tomorrow....

Yes, the kit is insured I'll be dolled up as a marshall as well so hopefully will keep hits to a minimum anyway.

It's at City Paintball in London, which uses the old underground arches near Liverpool St. So it's going to be uneven lighting, somewhat dingy in places etc.

I'm guessing ETTL on the speedlight, 24-105L rather than either the 50 1.4, 105 2.8 or 400 5.6 , AI Servo and aperture priority (and let the flash capture the action) on the 1D?

If i was ever mad enough to shoot paintball, it would be the only time i put a "protective" filter on the camera...

Funnily enough I'm walking past 3 camera shops on the way to the station tomorrow morning. A 77 UV is going to be purchased

I don't know how dark the place will be but f4 may not be fast enough, and the use flash often totally kills the atmosphere. Something like f1.8 or f1.4 may be a better lens to use.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I'm going to take both lenses. Maybe do some staged stuff with the flash and 24-105 during the breaks and stick to the 50 during the games.

One serious hit during the day, that's all I was dolled up as a marshall though. Plenty of ricochets though - was good fun

Although a tad disconcerting given I oculdn't return fire

Camera was fine. Pics will appear tomorrow evening.

braddle, it was City Paintball in London. Interesting premise - several arenas under the old railway arches in Broadgate. Different

That was the two stags (my mate and another who's group we joined up with to form our team) running from everyone else in the team as they unloaded the remainder of their paint on them
