Hi - my husband went out yesterday and bought a replica Lambo - which yeah I agree looks amazing - but ...........................................

I feel really let down at the moment, as I purchased this from ebay, yes the car looked amazing, sounded amazing etc, then 30 mins into the journey home it started smoking, I stopped and couldnt get car started again and wheel hub nut has come off and wheel was dangerously close to flying off.

£352 later with car nearer to home I have a car that won't start, needs a new lambo hub nut, I have no idea how to lock the car.

The guy from ebay is being really awful and is refusing to help me out - he knew there was a problem, but sold it like that - which could have prooved fatal had the wheel come off on the motorway. I wouldn't have minded had he told me the faults, so I knew I had to get them done. AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHH

Could somebody please help me and advise me where do I start to get a car like this looked at and where I can get a hub nut from and get the wheels re balanced (as you can tell I'm a bit blonde when it comes to cars ) So if anyone out there can tell me what to do - or knows of someone that has a clue and lives near sussex - PLEASE get in touch.

Thanks

Louise

sorry to hear what's happened, but I doubt we'll be able to help as is the nicest possible way..... it ain't a lambo, and you haven't said what it was based on.. If a Fiero, maybe a post under the relevant section?

Maybe Mike Pullen in Haywards Heath, he's a nice guy - but it may be hard to tell what parts are from what on the car

there are some replica forums out there, I believe

Louise.
You say that the car is a replica.
That means that it is based on another type of vehicle (not Lamborghini), so the hub parts which you mention, are not going to be available from any regular Lamborghini suppliers.
Firstly, find out exactly what the car is (look in the V5c document). Once you know this, take the car to a reputable mechanic who specialises in that type of vehicle.
It would help us, if you could post any pictures. We can then probably steer you in the right direction.

To save struggling for pictures, I assume that it is this one there since the winning bidder matches your name!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAMBORGHINI-COU

Unfortunately the sellers feedback isn't the best in the world, there is usually a clue there!

Yes thats the ebay git that sold it (ebay listing shown above) - unfortunately, my husband thought he was doing the right thing............and on reading the feedback people dont seem to have had a problem buying from him, the negative feedback is from purchases he made.

There goes my savings ............... not sure what to do now. the hub nut thingies have the lamborhini pic one them. Think its time for me and hubby to do a crash course in mechanics. !!!

They don't look like VW wheels to me, but what do I know. Not sure that Mike at Haywards Heath has had much experience with replicas, but if there are any genuine Lamborghini parts on there, which there often is with some replicas, he may be able to help.

Thanks to everyone, I just feel really numb right now, that was all my life savings and I have nothing now, I guess I've learnt a valuble lesson - unless anyone out there fancies a replica, gutted coz it looks the dogs bollox, and there are too many jealous people, as I'm sure u have all experianced.

Just feel like crawling into a hole right now and dying, have spent everything on this car and have nothing left now. and nowhere to turn. Sweet dreams to all genune people out there.

good luck Lou,
no one likes to get ripped off, but I'm sure it has happened to all of us at one time or another. Hopefully as its VW based it maybe very simple and cheap to sort out. Keep smiling

It's a real shame Lou particularly because it is a spitting imagine of a real one. I dount whether even Mr Lambo would be able to tell the difference. How quick is (was) it ?

Louise

I hope you and your hubby get it sorted. No one likes to get ripped off.

You know, you could have had an actual Lambo for £17-18K, instead of a copy. Not a Countach, I'll grant you, but a nice Uracco or even a Jalpa. Not as pose-worthy for some perhaps (though I love 'em), but the real deal none the less.

Good luck to you both.

Well, It is with a garage at the moment and we are awaiting the phonecall telling us the damage, at least the guy who we bough it off has agreed to meet some of the costs.

I will try the guy in Haywards Heath, as I need to get my hands on a Lamborghini wheel hub nut (as it flew off on the A1).

Glad you think it looks real - that has cheered me up

IM a little confused here.
Why have you lost your life savings?
From what I can gather all you need is a wheel nut that the seller has agreed to meet some of the cost towards (which incidentally he has absolutley no need to do)
You've spent the thread slagging this chap off for selling you a car which is fine bar this one nut.
In turn this chap seems to be a genuine seller, and overhelpful as his other feedback will attest, and yet you jump on this thread decying him becuase of one timy thing wrong with it.
Get real will you!!!

this guy originally said he wasnt interested in paying us a penny, only because i threatened legal action against him today has he agreed to meet the costs - because the car was in the garage last week - through their negligence, they never replaced the wheel nut properly and forgot to put something onto the car. when the car stopped, the police confirmed that we were practically minutes from death, another few bends and the wheel would have flown off as it was partially hanging off. You can imagine that I probably wouldnt be here now had that happened.
The point of my last post was to inform people that he has now agreed to meet some of the cost and that I hadn;t been ripped off. The costs so far are in excess of £2,000, which I dont have.
Sorry if you felt I wasted your reading time. Everyone else has been extremely helpful and sympathetic to me.
