Got this yesterday.....what an brilliant game. I thought it might get repetetive, but the game structure is very different to anything Ive played before. The action is hilarious. This is tbe best thing Ive played since Oblivion.

Bought it today cos TDU is getting boring (drive here, test car you can't afford, drive past woman, says she doesn't like grp F car, win a race, get cop chase, get pulled over, get fined all your winnings, later, rinse, repeat) and it's fun but the save system really gets on my nerves... find a bog to save, if you've not saved - then tough...

Seems a bit more difficult than i expected, i get blown away by the hispanic dude with the SMG on the gantry in the food court, then when i go outside at night i get blown away by the jeep with the 50cal on the back.

Managed to find the hardware store with chainsaws already though

I'm finding it pretty hard too. Can't kill Carlito, I get his energy down to half and then can't get any further.

Tried a different approach and visited the gun store, the owner blasts away with a shotgun and I can't kill him either!

Maybe the better approach is to do a few rescue missions and get your skills higher before going for the harder stuff.

Great game though, Test Drive only kept me interested for about a day, hopefully this one will be better.

You can climb up to meet Carlito on the boxes beside the left hand set of steps but I still haven't managed to kill him - I've had his health down to next to nowt by hiding round a corner and having him unload into the wall, then the other dude you're with can get a good shot but it never seems to kill him.

Easy way to get loads of zombie deaths tho is to go to the carpark, if you go out to the garden bit in the middle and head north north east, there's an access road with a car and a motorbike parked in the carpark. If you want, you can kill the zombies there (about 200-250 or so) but it's way more fun to take the car down the ramp into the maintenance tunnels and go on a zombie killing rampage down there. There's millions of the buggers zombing around and your kills counter goes into overdrive! (make sure you've got "A LOT" of bullets or whatever first though, cos the car WILL break down and you'll end up dead if you can't fight your way out...

The control system annoys me too, especially the aiming of weapons, i instinctively use the wrong analogue stick and the guy always seems to aim 90 degrees in the wrong direction too, this usually goes on while im having clips emptied into me. Anyone tried to rush him with the chainsaw or anything else that dismembers quickly?

I haven't had any problems with Carlo in the food court- just keep shooting him and even when you run out of bullets you can get Brad to give you some more just by running over to him. If your health is getting low then leave Brad to it and head over to one of the fast food places and grab some more health.

If you do manage to get hold of the shotgun then he can be dispatched a lot quicker. Rather randomly on one game I found said weapon in the opening battle... odd.

But I have had big troubles with the convicts in the Hummer.

Oh, and one night all the lights went out in the mall which made surviving doubly tough- does that happen every night or did I trigger an event?

I'm clearly one of the hard-core then, had no problems with that Carlito battle, it's when you next meet him and he's packing a sniper rifle that he gets nasty. Convicts were pretty easy, just grab the SMG from the awnings above the area where you leave the warehouse and kill the gunner on the back, then grab his gun and mow down the other two.

In my defense i have been pre-occupied with Saints Row, haven't properly sat down with dead-rising yet.

The save system is annoying though, puts me off a little bit to have to redo large sections of the game everytime i die.

It is a little annoying, but should only affect the first time you play, after that you should have a good idea when to save, how to beat each boss and you'll be that much tougher to boot. I got Saints Row too on friday and i've been splitting my time between both, a true gaming feast which is fortunate as i've no money to buy anything else for quite a while.

Revisited the game this morning, was able to dispatch Carlito easily and the Convicts in the jeep. I guess it's just down to learning the knack a bit more.

Cruising round the park in the hummer after killing the convicts is a good laugh, gets the kill counter moving!

When you leave the warehouse bit head to your right to the stairs that lead up to the coffee house, halfway up the stairs jump off them to the right onto the ledge (it is more of a ledge than an awning really) run along this ledge past the teddy bear and orange juice until you get to the last bit and a nice shiny SMG with 100 rounds in it.
