Mine was working this morning, then disconected it as normal and now it won't recognise or power up or even be ackowledged by any computer.

Any ideas on how to fix this cos the driver disc only has a driver for windows 98, nt etc and says that for Windows XP it will just recognise by itself.

Thanx

Sounds more like it's knackered to me.

XP doesn't usually need drivers for these.

Similar thing happened to me, when i (foolishly) ragged my usb pen out of a windows 2000 box at work.

How rude of me, not to ask for permission to remove it. As a punishment, the box deemed it fix to well and truly shag my pen, thus, rendering it useless.

Format and a bit of tlc on win2000 was the way forward for me.

I have seen issues at work with XP machines not recognisin the pendrive. Click start, Right click my computerr and go to manage, click device manager, see if you can find somethin in usb controllers which says "usb mass storage device" and see if it has a mark saying there is a problem with your hardware. Right click, uninstall, pull the pendrive out and reboot. See if that gets it going again, quite often it does. Pen drives do die eventually though and the fact it isnt powering up worries me

Worth checking if you have flicked the write protect tab on. This really confuses some pen's/OS's sometimes.

One of mine keeps warning me about that whenever I rudely yank it out, but I thought it was just guff. I may pay attention to the warning now.
